Introduction

Hi from us - Will, Kayla & Matilda aka Wattle Rose Photography.

Our unique name, inspired by both Australia & England's national emblems, represents the fusion of our family. We are so excited to share our passion for family photography with you. As a family-owned business, we understand the joy of capturing life’s fleeting moments, and our mission is to turn those moments into lasting memories for your family to cherish forever.

Our Story

Will first picked up a camera at the tender age of 15, and has been obsessed with all things photography since! Whilst backpacking round Australia he met Kayla in Sydney, we decided to go halves on a camper-van and hit the open roads of Australia. After a year of exploring Australia we moved to Will’s hometown in the UK where we started our wedding photography business. Epps Photography was our first baby, but as soon as our beautiful daughter Matilda burst into our world, she completely changed our outlook on life. We had never loved anything so much, and realised just how special photographs of your family really are. Our parents did a fantastic job of documenting our childhoods, whilst showing Matilda all the family photos we had of us at her age, it dawned on us what makes a truly fantastic photo. It's not perfect posing or scripted directions, it's moments & emotions. Often the blurry, out of focus, poorly exposed, but perfectly timed shots were the ones that really stood out, & took us back to that exact moment in time. This sparked the idea and desire to create a business that solely focused on family photographs. In 2023 we moved to beautiful Lake Macquarie, where we set up Wattle Rose Photography. Spoilt by the sun, sea, and sand, it’s the perfect location to run our dream business of capturing wonderful family photographs!

Our mission is simple: to create beautiful, timeless images that celebrate the bonds of family. We believe that every moment is worth capturing, from the laughter of children to the tenderness of shared glances. We love to capture candid, natural, authentic family moments, in a fun, effective way. We want to be your Lake Macquarie & Newcastle Family Photographer.

Our Services

We specialise in a range of photography services across the Newcastle & Lake Macquarie region, including family portraits, maternity and newborn shoots, and the occasional mini-shoot. Our approach is relaxed and fun, encouraging families to be themselves and create genuine connections during each session. The beach is our absolute favourite place to photograph families, but we also love to capture our families in their natural habitat, whether that be your home, the great outdoors, or anywhere that’s special to you & your story.
